Samuel Vance-Law, research director at Decentralization Research Center, says the White House’s frontier AI agreement leaves important audit decisions to the companies being reviewed. The White House AI accord was signed Sept. 29 by Nvidia, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta and xAI. The pact does not identify who selects auditors, define what they may examine, require findings to be made public or set penalties for noncompliance, Vance-Law said. He said companies effectively choose their auditors and determine the scope of reviews. Vance-Law cited an assessment of 16 companies’ progress on the White House’s 2023 voluntary commitments.
