Warning signs
- Chasing losses or betting more to get the same thrill.
- Borrowing money, or using money meant for bills, to gamble.
- Hiding how much you gamble from people close to you.
- Feeling anxious or irritable when you try to cut back.
Keep it under control
- Set a deposit and time limit before you start. Licensed operators must let you.
- Treat it as paid entertainment, not a way to make money.
- Never gamble when you're upset, drunk or trying to win something back.
- Use self-exclusion. Most US states run a statewide program through their gaming regulator.
Is it legal where you are?
Online casino gambling is legal in only a handful of US states, and sweepstakes casinos are being restricted state by state. Our US Casino section follows the changes. Always check your state regulator before you play. You must be 21+ in most states, and 18+ in some.
