Flamingo Habitat’s Bugsy the Pelican Goes to the Great Aviary in the Sky

Bugsy the pelican, a beloved fixture at the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat, has kicked the bucket, shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible, we’ve confirmed. Bugsy was brought to Flamingo’s habitat in Sept. 2012, along with another rescue, Virginia. Virginia passed in 2021. We’ll try to keep this upbeat despite the sad news if that’s OK. We sometimes use humor as an adaptive coping mechanism, employing cognitive reframing and emotional regulation to process grief and mitigate psychological distress. Oh, like you don’t.
