XRP Kuwait denies centralization after emergency XRPL security update

XRP Kuwait, a validator node operator on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), has publicly refuted allegations that it has compromised its independence following an urgent network-wide security update. The dispute centers on the recent implementation of xrpld version 3.4.1, a critical patch that was installed across many node operators nearly simultaneously, raising concerns about the true level of network decentralization. The necessity for the rapid update arose after a payment engine vulnerability was discovered in XRPL’s codebase. This flaw, dating as far back as 2015, involved an integer overflow issue that surfaced when processing a high volume of trade offers.
