A market-circulating merger timeline ties SpaceX and Tesla to an agreement targeted for the first half of 2027 and completion before President Donald Trump’s term ends. The dates describe separate steps, with an agreement to come before the transaction closes. Tesla CEO Elon Musk discussed the possibility during the company’s third-quarter earnings call on Oct. 21. He expressed support for the idea and pointed to possible connections involving artificial intelligence, Terafab chipmaking, robotics and Starlink connectivity. Musk also confirmed that the two companies had established independent special committees to examine the proposal.
