Solana Foundation has merged a proposal to replace the network’s associated token account program with p-ATA, an optimized alternative that cut transaction execution time by about 35% in benchmarks. SIMD-0567 proposes replacing the existing associated token account (ATA) program with p-ATA, which is built on Pinocchio. The proposal aims to reduce compute-unit (CU) use and improve execution efficiency. Benchmarks showed p-ATA cut transaction execution time by about 35% compared with the existing program. In a test configuration that supplied a Rent Sysvar account, CU use fell further.
