Mozambique’s state-owned Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH) is seeking investors for a $250 million gas project that could create another supply route to South Africa as production from existing fields declines. ENH is discussing the proposed infrastructure with Sasol and ROMPCO as potential investors. The plan includes facilities to receive and store liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Beira and Inhassoro, then convert it back into gas. About 140 kilometers of new pipeline would connect the infrastructure to the existing ROMPCO line, which carries Mozambican gas into South Africa. ENH is targeting 2030 or 2031 for the new infrastructure.
