Latest Weekly Earnings Tally Shows 83% EPS Beat Rate Among 177 Firms

The latest weekly earnings tally, published Oct. 31, put the earnings-per-share (EPS) beat rate at 83%: 147 of 177 companies topped estimates, while 26 missed. The tally covered companies reporting quarterly results during the week. Year-over-year earnings growth appeared at 79% of the companies. Their reports spanned mega-cap technology, pharmaceuticals, energy, aerospace and consumer goods. An earlier season-to-date tally through Oct. 23 also recorded an 83% EPS beat rate and a 66% revenue beat rate. That update covered the season through Oct. 23, while the Oct. 31 figure is a weekly tally.
