Consumer Discretionary Firms Report Revenue Growth More Often Than Earnings Gains

Revenue growth was more common than earnings growth across a 13-company consumer discretionary results tally, with nine companies posting higher year-over-year sales and eight reporting higher earnings for their latest quarters. Results against quarterly estimates also favored revenue. Eight companies beat revenue forecasts and five fell short. For earnings per share (EPS), seven beat estimates, five missed and one matched expectations. The latest tally covers more companies than an earlier TokenPost snapshot of sector results . That snapshot covered nine companies: six beat EPS estimates, four beat revenue forecasts, five had year-over-year revenue growth and four had higher EPS.
