Google’s AI Search Features Reach Billions, But Audience Figures Differ

Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode each reach more than 1 billion users a month, while U.S. survey and app figures count different audiences and time periods. Among 5,119 U.S. adults surveyed Feb. 17-23, 2026, 49% had used an AI chatbot at some point and 24% used one daily. For specific assistants, 44% had tried ChatGPT, 24% Gemini and 6% Claude. These are self-reported U.S. usage figures, not exclusive market shares. Company counts cover different periods and activity levels. ChatGPT had 1.2 billion weekly users in September 2026. The Gemini app had 950 million monthly active users in July 2026.
