An anonymous employee at Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant alleged Apple relaxed some quality-control standards during iPhone Duo production to keep supply moving, offering a production-side claim alongside reports of inner-display failures. Possible hinge-related mechanisms include a center support bar that may not move fully clear of the display’s folding area as the phone closes, or a curved rail that could interfere with the screen. Apple has not publicly settled on a cause. The allegation follows earlier reports of cracks near the hinge .
