Financial Markets Need Blockchains With Predictable Transactions

For financial markets that depend on timely execution, blockchain throughput alone does not ensure predictable transaction inclusion, expected ordering or privacy before trades execute on a blockchain network. Three design needs follow: predictable transaction inclusion and ordering, resilient access to execution, and privacy before trades execute. Throughput measures how much activity a chain can process; it does not establish whether an individual valid transaction will be included predictably. The infrastructure question builds on earlier coverage of how blockchains might broaden markets beyond crypto assets .
