European Union tech chief Henna Virkkunen said the bloc is equipped to address risks from highly capable artificial intelligence models, including fears that rogue AI agents could move beyond human control. “We have our AI Act in place and the AI Act covers the whole life cycle of these models,” Virkkunen said in a Friday interview. The AI Act regulates artificial intelligence according to risk levels and was adopted two years ago. Virkkunen rejected criticism that the framework is outdated.
