Anthropic said on Sunday that it will commit a portion of its shares to a new Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, describing the structure as one that would increase the stake as the company grows. The announcement matters because it frames a larger share of the company’s equity as dedicated to public benefit rather than traditional ownership or compensation use. In its Oct. 18, 2026 statement, Anthropic said that, subject to stockholder approval, 5% of its shares will be committed immediately, with an additional 2% added at the board’s discretion for every 50% increase in company value above a set baseline.
