Anthropic Says Rule-Breaking Customers Made Up 5% to 7% of Nine-Month Revenue

Anthropic estimated that customers whose use violated its rules accounted for 5% to 7% of revenue in the nine months through Sept. 30, 2026, putting a measurable portion of sales at risk as the company tightens enforcement. The estimate in Anthropic’s S-1 filing covers revenue recognized as services were delivered, before the company restricted or closed the accounts. Anthropic said it strengthened detection and enforcement efforts in August and September. The company expects the share of revenue linked to violating use to decline. It cautioned that a lower contribution from those customers may reduce revenue and growth in future periods.
