Amazon plans to invest $39.8 billion in Spain’s cloud and data center infrastructure, a five-site Aragón expansion in a basin where two water units faced scarcity alerts in August 2026. Amazon’s March 2026 announcement brought the planned investment total to $39.8 billion, following an earlier commitment in 2024. Aragón’s development plan covers five sites and phases work over about 10 years, including roads, fiber, electricity, potable and nonpotable water, and wastewater infrastructure. Through 2035, the investment is projected to support 29,900 full-time-equivalent jobs per year at local businesses, counting direct, indirect and induced employment.
