GreatCollections sold a 1971-S Eisenhower dollar prototype for $189,000 on October 18, 2026, after it was originally picked up for less than $10 at the Long Beach Coin Expo in 2008. The Judd-2147 piece is one of just three known examples, featuring an earlier reverse with extra lunar craters that was changed before the Ike dollar’s regular release. At the Long Beach Coin Expo on February 15, 2008, collector Lee C. Lydston spotted something off about a 1971-S Eisenhower silver dollar and bought it for less than $10.
