The Danish drugmaker will pay $30 million upfront for access to Generate Biomedicines' generative AI protein design platform Zealand Pharma is betting that artificial intelligence can help it design the next wave of obesity drugs. The company announced a multi-target collaboration and license agreement with Generate Biomedicines on October 13, 2026. Total milestone payments could reach approximately $1.2 billion, plus tiered royalties on net sales. Generate’s shares rose about 5% in after-hours trading following the news. For a company that only went public in February, that is a warm welcome to big pharma partnerships.
