Base processed more than 138 million transactions through Coinbase’s x402 payment protocol in the 12 months ending July 1, 2026, with uses spanning AI inference, code reviews and other online services. Recorded categories included financial intelligence, data and search API calls, agent frameworks and tools, payment and settlement rails, gaming, token issuance and gambling. The mix spans information services and other online activity, and does not mean every transaction involved an AI agent. The 138 million figure is a count of protocol transactions.
