Worldwide PC shipments fell 20.1% year over year in the third quarter, a market-wide decline that offers context for Intel’s Oct. 29 earnings but does not measure the chipmaker’s own sales. A preliminary estimate put worldwide shipments at 62.7 million units, down 9.1% from the second quarter. The figures cover the overall PC market, not Intel-specific unit sales. Intel’s July outlook called for third-quarter revenue of $15.8 billion to $16.8 billion and non-GAAP diluted earnings of $0.38 per share. In the second quarter, its Data Center and AI business generated $6.3 billion in revenue, up 59% from a year earlier.
