Vitalik Buterin Urges Calm as AI Cryptography Warnings Put Wallet Security in Focus

Vitalik Buterin’s warning presents Ethereum with an awkward but useful planning problem. On one hand, he has cautioned that AI-driven advances in mathematics could weaken the practical security of lattice-based cryptography within two years. On the other, his message to users was not to move wallets in haste. That combination matters more than a dramatic warning in isolation. The immediate concern being discussed is not a demonstrated break of Ethereum, Bitcoin or deployed lattice-based wallet cryptography.
