United Bankshares Posts $128.7 Million Q3 Profit as Net Interest Income Sets Record

United Bankshares Inc. earned $128.704 million, or $0.94 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2026 as net interest income reached a quarterly record of $294.251 million. Net income was $131.377 million in the second quarter and $130.748 million in the third quarter of 2025. Diluted earnings per share were $0.95 and $0.92 in those periods, respectively. Net interest income increased $8.9 million, or 3%, from the second quarter and $14.1 million, or 5%, from a year earlier. Net interest margin widened to 3.86%, compared with 3.81% in the second quarter and 3.80% in the year-earlier quarter.
