U.S. Used EV Listing Prices Rise 6.4% Year Over Year in September

The average U.S. listing price for a used electric vehicle was 6.4% above a year earlier in September, while estimated sales rose 21.2% and gasoline remained well above February levels. Regular gasoline averaged $2.908 per gallon in February 2026, climbed to $4.479 in May and averaged $4.355 in September. The increase followed the start of U.S. military operations against Iran on Feb. 28, 2026, and disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Federal credits for eligible new and used electric vehicles had ended for vehicles acquired after Sept. 30, 2025.
