President Donald Trump plans to use a White House cybercrime event on Oct. 22 to highlight U.S. enforcement actions against overseas crypto scam groups and the assets intercepted in those cases. Federal authorities have intercepted about $833 million in cryptocurrency linked to overseas scams. The effort also resulted in the seizure of 503 fraudulent crypto websites and notifications to nearly 9,000 Americans who were scammed. Those figures capture three parts of the campaign: crypto assets, websites and people contacted. The targets were transnational criminal groups active in Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines.
