Transocean Ltd. shares rose 4.8% to $5.89 at Monday’s close, finishing above their 20-session Bollinger band on a day when the offshore driller announced two U.S. Gulf contracts representing about $550 million in firm backlog. The stock gained $0.27 from its Oct. 16 close of $5.62. At the Oct. 19 regular-session close, 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC), it stood about $0.09 above the upper band of approximately $5.80. That band is calculated from a 20-session moving average and two population standard deviations of closing prices. Transocean announced the two U.S. Gulf drillship awards at 6:10 a.m.
