Bank of Thailand Deputy Governor Daranee Saeju warned that fraud safeguards have not kept pace with digital payments, pointing to PromptPay’s scale and estimated global fraud and scam losses of $579 billion. “Protection has not kept pace with innovation,” Saeju said at a World Economic Forum event during the International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok on Oct. 15.
