Taiwan Restricts Local Access to Coinbase and Kalshi Websites

Taiwan has blocked local access to Coinbase and Kalshi websites under an authorization from the New Taipei District Court. The action extends Taiwan’s restrictions on prediction-market platforms and also includes Coinbase. Taiwan’s communications regulator and the body responsible for internet domain registration were authorized to limit local users’ access to the two platforms. The authorization involves both communications oversight and domain registration, giving the two bodies a role in restricting access. The restrictions apply to local users in Taiwan. Kalshi operates a prediction-market platform, and Taiwan had already blocked Polymarket, its main competitor.
