John Sununu, a former U.S. Senator, is emphasizing his independence from Donald Trump in his campaign for New Hampshire’s Senate seat. This development comes as Sununu challenges Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas for the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. Recent polling data shows Pappas leading Sununu, with Rasmussen and Saint Anselm surveys indicating a mid-single-digit advantage for the Democratic candidate. Sununu’s strategy to distance himself from Trump appears to reflect an effort to appeal to moderate voters in a state where Trump’s approval ratings are low.
