SoundHound AI plans to shrink its worldwide staff by roughly 27% under a restructuring announced Nov. 5, a step the voice AI company says will help it reach sustained profitability. The announcement came alongside record third-quarter revenue. The company estimates $18 million to $22 million in pre-tax charges from the plan. It aims to put more than $80 million in cost actions in place before Jan. 1, 2027. SoundHound has also identified $120 million in annualized cost synergies from combining with LivePerson. The synergy figure is stated as a yearly amount, while the cost-action target has a deadline before 2027.
