The Solana Foundation’s “Accelerate China 2026” event at the Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai was suddenly suspended on the morning of October 16. Attendees were left outside as police officers cleared the venue and checked identification cards. The disruption came after Solana launched a major marketing campaign in China. The campaign included a large light show on the Citibank Building in Lujiazui and the opening of a new office. These moves initially suggested that Solana was making progress in mainland China, where cryptocurrency activities face strict restrictions.
