SK Hyper is seeking outside funding for a South Korean data center buildout whose first five gigawatts CEO Chung Suk-geun says will cost $350 billion, including equipment. The newly formed SK Group unit is in talks with major technology companies and financial investors. It targets 15 gigawatts of data center capacity in South Korea by 2035. SK Hyper aims to complete its first external funding round by the end of 2026 or early 2027. It plans to continue raising money over the next three to four years and share overall construction costs with data center tenants and outside investors.
