Ricursive Develops AI Software to Design and Refine Chip Layouts

Ricursive Intelligence is developing AI software to design and refine chip layouts. Goldie said a process that takes about a week could make custom chips practical for more uses. Co-founders Anna Goldie and Azalia Mirhoseini discussed the effort at an event in San Francisco Wednesday. Goldie projected that demand for computing could grow at least 10,000-fold over the next five years, describing that estimate as potentially conservative. “We don’t want to build 10,000 times more data centers,” she said. The founders argue that more efficient chips and better use of data-center bandwidth could help meet that demand.
