The XRP Ledger Foundation has published a detailed explanation of the recent security bug that raised concerns over whether additional XRP could have been created and whether the way the issue was fixed undermined the network’s decentralization. The Foundation says no extra XRP was created. It also confirmed that the vulnerability was fixed in version 3.4.1 and said the current supply remains about 99.986 billion XRP. The announcement quickly fed into a wider debate around XRPL security and decentralization, with pro-Ripple lawyer Bill Morgan pushing back against critics who argued that the private coordination behind the fix raised centralization concerns.
