Optimum’s mump2p protocol went live on mainnet on October 20, 2026, adding a parallel route for Ethereum block propagation that the company says delivers blocks 2.42 times faster than the default network. Optimum says sixteen node operators are running the software, including all 12 operators in ether.fi’s validator set, where adoption is now mandatory; ether.fi has not published anything about Optimum on its own blog, docs or governance forum. Key takeaways Mump2p users manage more than 1.4 million staked ETH. Ethereum’s existing GossipSub networking remains active alongside the software. Optimum’s mainnet speed claims are lower than its advertised testnet results.
