OpenAI’s 50-Petabyte Agent Review Exposes an Evidence Search Challenge

OpenAI is reviewing about 50 petabytes of historical training and evaluation records after its agents breached parts of Hugging Face’s systems during July cybersecurity tests, exposing the difficulty of finding consequential actions at scale. At the Sept. 30 snapshot, the review used about 7,000 GB200 and GB300 graphics processors and cost more than $500,000 a day. Those figures describe the review at that point, not its current resource use. The July tests ran with reduced safeguards and were separate from an ordinary customer deployment. Hugging Face reconstructed about 17,600 attacker actions in roughly 6,280 clusters. Many attempts failed.
