Ontario Regulation 306/15 Is Revoked Oct. 13, 2027, Before Waymo’s 2028 Toronto Target

Ontario’s automated-vehicle pilot regulation is revoked Oct. 13, 2027, ahead of Waymo’s 2028 Toronto ride-hailing target and the current rules governing its tests. Ontario Regulation 306/15 confines approved vehicles to testing and does not itself provide for paid ride-hailing. Waymo has received approval to join the Automated Vehicle Pilot Program. Ontario launched the pilot in 2016 and revised it in 2019 to permit driverless testing under conditions requiring companies to monitor vehicles, take control when necessary and bring them to a safe stop.
