Nvidia (NVDA) shares fell toward $225 on Oct. 12 after reaching $243.37 on Oct. 6, as investors assessed competing processors and the cost of expanding AI infrastructure. Microsoft unveiled Maia 300, an in-house processor designed for artificial intelligence workloads. Microsoft says the chip can produce 40% more tokens per megawatt than leading GPU systems, while a rack with 96 accelerators could deliver up to seven times the token output of Maia 200. Microsoft plans to deploy Maia 300 across its Azure cloud services in 2027.
