The New Taiwan dollar fell to its weakest close since mid-April 2025 on Tuesday as foreign investors net sold Taiwanese stocks, extending pressure on the island’s currency. The currency closed at NT$32.617 per U.S. dollar, compared with NT$32.445 on Monday. It weakened as far as NT$32.672 during Tuesday’s trading before recovering some ground by the close. A higher exchange-rate figure means it takes more New Taiwan dollars to buy one U.S. dollar. Taiwan’s benchmark stock index fell more than 500 points Tuesday. Foreign investors net sold about NT$79.5 billion in local shares that day.
