Design changes to Google’s tensor processing unit (TPU) v9 are estimated to have delayed the MediaTek-involved project by about three weeks, with shipments for that project potentially moving to the first quarter of 2028. The estimated revisions involve Core A, code-named Humufish. MediaTek’s Core B and input/output designs would need to align with Core A, affecting the projected timetable for its work on the chip. An initial tape-out is projected for Jan. 2027, followed by a tape-out for the production version in the second quarter of 2027. The shipment window remains an estimate.
