Mastercard Begins Rolling Out AI Agent Payments Service With Coinbase, Base

Mastercard is beginning to open up a system that allows AI agents to autonomously purchase digital services using blockchain technology and stablecoins, marking another step toward a future in which software can conduct financial transactions without direct human involvement. The payments giant announced Tuesday that it completed end-to-end pilots of its Agent Pay for Machines platform with partners including Cloudflare, Ant International, AIsa, Base, BVNK, Coinbase, and Hype. Mastercard is also opening early access to developers, providing tools to build and test autonomous payment applications.
