Luxembourg Plans €1 Billion Blockchain Bond With 10-Year Maturity

Luxembourg plans a blockchain-native sovereign bond of at least €1 billion. The government expects the bond to be eligible as ECB collateral. NThe sale is targeted for late October, with no coupon or platform named yet. Slovenia and Hong Kong have already issued digital government bonds. Luxembourg intends to issue a 10-year sovereign bond of at least €1 billion directly on distributed ledger technology, Finance Minister Gilles Roth said on October 7 while presenting the draft 2027 budget.
