Bitcoin security expert Jameson Lopp’s archive of physical attacks against cryptocurrency holders has more than doubled to over 700 documented incidents after researcher Pizza Bitcoiner used artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted searches to uncover hundreds of overlooked cases. The expanded records expose a disturbing history of kidnappings , home invasions, and violent robberies, including 31 reported deaths since 2020. The dramatic increase reflects better documentation, not a sudden doubling of attacks. Criminals don’t need to crack Bitcoin’s cryptography when they can threaten the people holding the keys.
