Ireland’s Criminal Assets Bureau Raises 2026 Bitcoin (BTC) Seizures to 2,500

Ireland’s Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) said Oct. 21 it seized another 500 Bitcoin (BTC), bringing its 2026 total to 2,500 BTC. The CAB handles assets linked to crime. The bureau credited Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre with technical expertise and decryption resources. On July 2, it announced a 500 BTC seizure that brought its 2026 total to 1,500 BTC. The Oct. 21 figure is 1,000 BTC above that tally. A separate 500 BTC transfer was recorded on-chain Oct. 20 at 10:16 a.m. ET (14:16 UTC). Its estimated value at that timestamp was about $41.4 million.
