Iran Says It Prepared New Response as Vessels Come Under Fire

Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei said Sunday that Iran’s armed forces had prepared a response to any new attack by the United States or Israel, as commercial ships came under fire near the Arabian Peninsula. Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said the planned response would be more damaging than two prior conflicts he referred to as the 12-day and 40-day wars. A tug off the United Arab Emirates was struck Sunday by two unidentified projectiles.
