Hong Kong plans an interbank gold tokenization project. Each proposed token will represent a standard 400-ounce bar. HSBC’s retail gold token recorded $2.5 billion in trading by August. The city’s clearing infrastructure already supports unallocated bullion. Hong Kong is preparing to tokenize wholesale gold bars as part of its effort to become an international bullion trading and settlement hub, bringing physical precious metals into the city’s expanding digital financial infrastructure.
