Greece’s 10% cryptocurrency tax can recognize gains when holders spend tokens or contribute them to company capital, extending the levy beyond sales for euros when it begins in 2027. Parliament passed the measure Thursday, Nov. 5. The law takes effect Jan. 1, 2027, following Parliament’s passage of the tax . The tax applies to net gains, calculated as the difference between an asset’s acquisition price and transfer price. Related transaction costs can be included. Annual net gains of €500 or less are exempt; if gains exceed that threshold, the 10% rate applies to the full annual gain.
