General Motors plans to introduce a centralized vehicle-computing system on the Cadillac Escalade IQ in 2028, extending one architecture across electric and gas models as it targets shorter development cycles. The architecture pairs a central compute unit with a new electrical system, bringing computing for perception, propulsion, active safety and chassis controls into one system. It is intended for both gas-powered and electric vehicles. Its design is meant to provide 40 times more computing power than GM’s previous systems, cut wiring length and mass by 30%, and make cellular connectivity up to 50% faster.
