Algorand CEO Urges Quantum Security Planning for Tokenized Finance

Algorand CEO William Herkelrath urged financial firms to build post-quantum security into tokenized markets, saying migration must span wallets, custodians, exchanges and hardware providers as well as blockchains. “Quantum readiness should already be a key discussion point today,” Herkelrath wrote in an Oct. 21 post. The call puts operational systems and service providers alongside blockchain transaction security in the migration effort. Post-quantum cryptography uses methods designed to withstand attacks from future quantum computers. Many major blockchains use elliptic-curve cryptography to authorize transactions.
