General Compute raised $100 million in Series A funding at an $800 million post-money valuation, giving the AI cloud startup capital as it builds an inference business around chips from Nvidia rivals. Blackbird Ventures and Abstract Ventures led the round. A large customer agreement valued at $100 million in annual recurring revenue helped support the financing. General Compute was valued at $60 million after a seed round in May. The company provides bare-metal servers — raw machines without software layered on top — to cloud providers that offer developers high-speed AI inference.
