French bank Crédit Mutuel Arkéa has confirmed a cyberattack, hours after blockchain investigator ZachXBT named it as the alleged victim of a theft he puts above US$133 million (AU$190.2 million). In a statement on Wednesday, Arkéa said the attackers used the bank’s own account to send transactions to other banks. Those transfers may then have let them convert the money into crypto on specialised platforms, the bank said. It said no customer accounts were used and customers’ assets were unaffected. Arkéa said the attackers reached the bank through the platform of an unnamed service provider.
